Matt Takaichi shot these pictures over the course of five years, in different cities and countries, but they look just as easily like they come from a single afternoon. 

In any setting, he applies the same process. Wandering in circles, Matt becomes "wrapped up in internal dialogues and ideas," while simultaneously confronting the strangers who happen by. "It’s a tug between being completely lost in my thoughts and sudden shocks back to total awareness."

These come from an ongoing body of work, tentatively called, If It Was.
